Pursuant to the HiTech Act, providers who have 30% of their patient volume covered
by Medicaid can receive a flat
$65,000. The threshold for pediatricians is 20%.
Alternatively, a provider can receive as much as
$48,000 based upon the level of
their Medicare revenues. In either case, the provider must obtain a “certified”
EHR system and utilize it in a “meaningful way.”
Providers can retain the difference between what they receive-
$65,000 or
$48,000
- and what they spend to become a “meaningful user” of a certified EHR system.
